VE3CRUHilltopperToo hot to rove, went to Seniors Centr to cool off. On the way home, stopped at a large sports field less than 1 km from shoreline of Lake Ontario and powered up the gear. Booming in, first off back of beam then off front was N0YK in DM98, WOW. Then heard N0LL in EM calling repeatedly with no replies so called him with 10W and 9 elmts 9 feet above the ground, got him first try ssb. Heard many in TX but did not call them. Paused 2 hours for food, then returned for more tries. The sporadic E's were gone, but locals were listening, plus VE3SMA in FN05. Got 7 in total and headed home, happy. Digi is never used by me, and is reducing the potential ssb/cw qso's. I avoided the 6m band dominated by most. No ON4KST either, have no computer on the road. Thanks to sponsor CQ and new Director John K9JK plus team, and all who participated. Looking forward to next year. 73, Bill Burgess VE3CRU
VE3DSSingle Op AllHad some fun on 6 m CW and SSB, good to hear all the activity back on the low end of the band! Lots of locals on as well glad to see VE's in there contesting on VHF!

VE3RVZSingle Op AllProcessing balked at my: Line 8 CATEGORY-POWER entry is wrong. Allowed values are HIGH, LOW, or QRP. CATEGORY-POWER: LOW Red text is the error. Blue text was found in your log. Please correct any errors in your log file and upload again. The form below contains the header information from your log. Please review and make any corrections. OK, if your own processor says I can use HIGH, LOW or QRP, then balks at LOW, I have to put HIGH, I wasn't operating QRP, but you'll need to correct the confusion. Thanks for a great contest!

W2KVSingle Op AllOperation was from Ship Bottom NJ FM29vp. 2 meters was running 100W to 7 elements at 35 feet. 6 meters was 100W to a 40 meter dipole (!) fed with too much coax. 6 was wide open for much of the contest and I could work everything I could hear even with the improvised antenna. Stations in fields DM, DN, EM, EN, EL, FN, FM and FL were worked. All activity was on SSB and CW. Great fun and the magic band was really showing its stuff. 73 Dave W2KV

W8MRLSingle Op 6MQTH - Hamilton, OH
W9HQSingle Op AllI operated in the CQ VHF contest by myself for a few hours and had a blast! There was a significant opening on 6 meters -- it seemed to start to the south and then moved south east and east as the afternoon progressed. One thing I did differently in this contest was call CQ more on 6 meters, rather doing mostly search and pounce on other strong signals. I've always considered myself a 'little gun' station, so I would just look for those that seemed stronger. But the CQing actually worked great and several times I'd find myself in a mini pile-up, which was quite exciting. EN43 isn't super rare, but it's not super common either, so perhaps that helped. So whereas KC9JTL and I only got about 27 QSOs from the home QTH during the ARRL contest, I ended up getting well over 80 in the CQ contest. That was eclipsed by what some others were able to do, of course, but for me that's quite good
